Back-End Development

The front-end is what the customer sees. The back-end is everything else: databases, server-side logic, integrations and security — the hidden part of the iceberg that decides whether your website or system runs fast, securely and without interruption. This is most often where the difference between an amateur and a professional programmer shows.

Our back-end programmers build the server-side solutions that process data, run user accounts and payments, handle integrations with other systems, and manage all the other logic that happens behind the scenes. This work calls for greater experience and broader knowledge, because mistakes on the back-end can lead to data loss, security holes or a system grinding to a halt just when the load is at its highest.

We pay particular attention to building databases correctly, to the logic of the code and to security. A tidy, logical back-end means the system is easy to extend, expand and maintain later, rather than every change becoming a risk. It also means speed — a well-built back-end responds quickly even when there are many users.

Often the back-end's job is to connect several systems: a website with a warehouse, accounting, payment services or partner systems. We build these integrations using APIs, so that data flows between systems automatically and with no manual work.

When working with systems that hold sensitive or confidential information, security and confidentiality are our priority. Where needed, we sign a confidentiality agreement, and for testing we use databases that contain no real data.
